SIR20216 Certificate II in Retail Services
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to operate within the retail industry. Multiskilling in working safely, product and service knowledge, handle stock, set up displays and serve customers working under supervision.
Work would be undertaken in supermarkets, department stores and retail outlets.
This course can be delivered in two ways:
1. In a flexible program of classroom training and self-paced learning activities. Student have 12 months to complete the course.
2. As a work-based traineeship program over a 12 month period in NSW.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Students will be required to provide their USI and complete a language, literacy and numeracy test.
Training is conducted:
1 Classroom – Training and assessment takes place in a classroom and involves discussions, presentations and activities in a simulated workplace environment.
2 Self-directed learning – Further study, personal research and reflection are done by participants in their own time.
Assessment will be carried out throughout the duration of the qualification. Feedback will be given to students by the Assessor. The combination of assessment methods used will be used to determine whether you have completed each unit in the course.

- Short Answer Questions
- Role plays and Observations
- Third Party Reports
This course is delivered across Australia, funding may be available for eligible participants in New South Wales.
Eligibility Criteria - NSW Smart and Skilled
To be eligible for a subsidised place in New South Wales, you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Humanitarian Visa Holder or NZ Citizen
- 15 years old or over
- Living or working in NSW
- No longer be at school or equivalent.

The range of units of competency provides participants with the operational skills and knowledge to work effectively in entry level roles within the retail industry.
Participants will need to complete a total of twelve (12) units of competency, seven (7) core units and five (5) elective units of competency. Here are the units that are available in our standard SIR20216 Certificate II in Retail Services
