This qualification reflects the role of workers in the disability sector in a range of community settings and clients’ homes. To encourage people with varying disabilities to be independent, participate in the community, support relationships and provide individualised care.
This course can be delivered in a flexible program of classroom training and self-paced learning activities. Students have up to 12 months to complete the course.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Student will be required to provide their USI and complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. As a requirement for work placement students will need to provide a National Police Check.

Training and Assessment Activities
Training and Assessment will take place:
Classroom: Training and assessment takes place in a classroom and involves discussions.
Self-directed learning: Further study and assessment activities are done by participants in their own time.
Assessment: The methods in which students are assessed may include written questions, case studies, projects and observations.
Work Placement: Students are required to complete a minimum of 120 hours of work at a care facility which can be organised by ARC Training.

ARC Training does not guarantee successful completion of this course and obtain employment.
This course is delivered in New South Wales and Queensland, funding may be available for eligible participants in NSW and QLD.
Eligibility Criteria - NSW Smart and Skilled
Subsidised Training: funding may be available for eligible participants under the Smart and Skilled program.
To be eligible for a subsidised place, you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Humanitarian Visa Holder or NZ Citizen
- 15 years old or over
- Living or working in NSW
- No longer be at school or equivalent.
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

Eligibility Criteria - QLD Higher Level Skills
Subsidised Training: funding may be available for eligible Queensland participants under the Higher Skills Program, funded by the Queensland Government.
To be eligible, you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident,
- NZ Citizen
- 15 years old or over
- Living in Queensland and
- Not already have obtained or be enrolled in a qualification at the Certificate IV level or higher.
- Student must be an Existing Worker in the Community Services and Health industry
Total student fee:
Concession – $14
Non-Concession – $28
There are fourteen (14) units of competency to complete, comprising of eleven (11) core units and three (3) elective units of competency. Please see the next page for our standard CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability.
